Commercial and Supply Chain Management

In order to win and deliver major prime contracts, organisations must be able to call upon a wide range of capabilities. Excellence in this area is only achieved when the very best capabilities are brought to the table. Therefore, it is vital that the prime contractor recognises when those capabilities exist within its own organisation and when they need to be brought in from outside.

At SELEX Systems Integration, our priority is delivering the optimum solution to our customers’ needs. This is underpinned by a solid approach to commercial and supply chain management.

Much of the capability to achieve customer satisfaction exists within the company itself and within the Finmeccanica group. On an individual project basis, where the very best capabilities exist elsewhere, SELEX Systems Integration will enter into partnering, teaming or similar arrangements with other companies to deliver such capabilities.

As a prime contractor, SELEX Systems Integration recognises the need to ensure that the customer sees a unified approach to programme delivery across the prime contract team, and accordingly ensures that clear and firm contractual arrangements govern the delivery team of partners and subcontractors. These arrangements always reflect the customers’ requirements and ensure a seamless approach.

The SELEX Systems Integration culture is to meet customer expectations and not limit ourselves to the detailed requirements of the contract. In selecting our partners, we make decisions based on technical capability and cultural alignment. It is essential that potential partners share SELEX Systems Integration's vision of customer satisfaction and can demonstrate it.

Major prime contracting involves risk taking and the correct and proportionate sharing of risk among the delivery partners. Again, partner selection will be based upon a compatible approach to risk.

SELEX Systems Integration’s commercial and supply chain management department is primarily responsible for agreeing the appropriate type of contract with the customer and forming the teaming relationships with its delivery partners.
