We are developing large
technically advanced systems using defined Systems Engineering
methods. You would be designing and developing
software-intensive systems.
Responsibilities / Duties
The design is managed through a UML system
model, a DOORS database, and a specification documentation
set. Engineering changes come through regularly, and the
specification set needs to be updated with the new requirements,
and the design updated and flowed-down.
You will be able to:
- Analyse and understand requirements, including
use cases
- Do design tasks, mainly COTS hardware
related
- Perform procurement of hardware, some of it
bespoke, including delivery
- Perform installation tasks
- Perform integration of hardware and software,
including testing
- Support acceptance activities
- Desirable skills: hardware, Windows XP, UML,
interface control & ICDs
Qualifications /
Experience
The main attributes for the Senior Systems
Engineer are experience in designing and developing
software-intensive IT systems. This may encompass areas
of:
- Networking
- Windows XP
- Hardware Integration
- Software Specification
- Integration and Requirements Management
Essential Skills
- Define specifications, design, and
interfaces.
- Experience/ understanding of working within a
configuration controlled approach against defined processes
Desirable Skills
Because a lot of the complexity of the
development relates to the development and integration of software,
the role will benefit from someone with a background in software
intensive systems.

Further Details
Limited travel may be required. This
position requires full security clearance as well as UK
single-nationality. Candidates, must therefore, have resided in the
UK for a minimum of 5 years and hold UK citizenship.
