SELEX Systems Integration is developing technology to promote
the support for wind farms, which will generate
regulatory, investment and operational system lifecycle
benefits.
Challenge
A major issue in meeting energy targets for 2010 and 2020 is
finding appropriate sites for renewable technologies. Over
80 per cent of the UK’s population supports wind farms, but
identified sites are often apparently untenable as
they may cause
interference civil and military aviation systems.
How SELEX Systems Integration is helping
SELEX Systems Integration is building on the radar's inherent clutter
rejection to preserve the identity of air vehicles amongst the
false targets caused by the rotating blades of wind turbines. We
will provide credible solutions that will address concerns about
wind farm sites from operators, nearby airport and
aerodromes.
Our heritage will enable us to develop
and implement holistic solutions, while responding to
the radar operator's key requirements for minimum downtime and
value-for-money. The modular solution will increase radar
capability and is future
proof.
