The Watchman system provides Air Traffic Services for the vast majority of the UK Ministry of Defence operational stations in the UK and worldwide. There are currently 40 Watchman surveillance radar systems in service worldwide. The Tactical variant (mobile equipment) of the Watchman surveillance radar system allows the rapid deployment and installation of Air Traffic Services in locations where British forces are on operational duty.
Selex ES is the System Design Authority for all Watchman surveillance radar system equipment, and has the capability to manufacture and support the system. Since 2003, Selex ES has provided the MOD's Watchman surveillance radar system with the following support services:
These services ensure that the Watchman surveillance radar system provides a high level of operational availability throughout its lifecycle.
Selex ES has signed an agreement with Lockheed Martin and Cobham to form Fusion Air Traffic Management, which will address Project MARSHALL – formerly known as JMATS.
As the Watchman Radar System Design Authority, Selex ES has reinitiated a forum for Watchman radar users to share operational data, information and resourcing.
