Energy

A key focus for the energy sector is renewable energy. The demand for electricity and the level and nature of capacity that will be available, is subject to great uncertainty over the next decade. The UK Government has committed to delivering 10% of the UK’s energy production from renewable sources by 2010, and 20% by 2020. Consequently, the requirement to consider the impact on security of supply, and the technology and commercial means that are required to manage it, are crucial.

Tackling the effects of climate change, and trying to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, the Government believes new nuclear power stations should have a role to play in the UK’s future energy mix alongside other low carbon sources. They have targeted the use of nuclear sources to rise from 20% to 70%, and it is in the public interest to allow energy companies the option of investing in new nuclear power stations.

SELEX Systems Integration, through its parent company Finmeccanica, operates globally, working with governments, independent power producers, and industrial users, looking at tackling the ongoing demands of renewable energy.
