Air Traffic Management
In the Air Traffic Management (ATM) field, SELEX Systems
Integration offers a wide range of technical capabilities and products to ensure the safe, fast and efficient
flow of air traffic, the security of people and goods, and the
highly effective exchange of information between operators.
Over the past decade, the air traffic sector has experienced
some major challenges, in particular the continuing threat of
terrorism, climate change (and requirement to reduce aircraft
emissions), fluctuating oil prices, and the start-up and decline of
many low-cost airlines. In addition, the current economic climate
means that passenger numbers have decreased significantly,
requiring air navigation service suppliers to reduce their
operating costs.
SELEX Systems Integration, as a dedicated solution architect and
systems integration business, provides complete and integrated
turnkey solutions for airports, comprising civil works, buildings,
taking off and taxiing runways.
SELEX Systems Integration offers complete systems for
Communication, Navigation, Surveillance and Air Traffic Management
(CNS/ATM), by integrating state-of-the-art Air Traffic Management
(ATM) systems for Air Traffic Control
(ATC) Centres and using the latest technologies in satellite
navigation and communications.
A full ATC package, with any combination of radars, displays,
processors and data communications, can be assembled in advanced
telematic systems for civil and military applications, from
en-route maneuvers to thorough airport management. Approach systems, weather
radars, Navaids,
Global Navigation Satellite System/Automatic Dependent Surveillance
(GNSS/ADS), Advanced Surface Movement Guidance and Control System
(A-SMGCS), and communication systems can be integrated into
different functional architectures.
SELEX Systems Integration's
SATCAS 2000 and ATM centres use information distributed
processing to minimise failures and ensure full system
availability. Open architecture and standard off-the-shelf
packages cover all system functions and can be tailored to
customers' needs. We invest heavily in research to enhance
Human-Machine-Interface (HMI). For example, the CDS-2000
air traffic controller workstation can be integrated into existing
ATC centres or placed in a new location. The HMI interface is
flexible, X-Windows-based, and can be tailored through our "editor
interface toolset" or other commercial off-the-shelf (COTS)
products.
